Prof Andreas Hamburger and Dr Vivian Pramataroff-Hamburger work in Munich on the project "Film and psychoanalyses", which connects the Academy for Psychoanalyses and Psychotherapy with the Cinema Museum in Munich.
Dr Viaian Pramataroff is of Bulgarian origin. She shared:
"In 2010 we introduced the "Film and Psychoanalyses" method in Bulgaria. A very active film group, like the one we created in Munich, was organised in Sofia. This group regularly organised discussions and analyses of films with the audience after the movies’ shows. In 2011 we decided to apply this method in the work with children from Atelier "Hug me". This led to organising a creative vacation in Novo Pancharevo village. For this we received a big support from the well known and loved actors Itcko Finci and Rashko Mladenov, as well as from the "Hug me"team. This project with the children was so successful that we decided to repeat it."
A "cinema and psychoanalyses" session with the children starts with the show of a movie which is especially selected for the purpose. After that, led by psychologists and psychoanalysts experts, the children recreate characters or situations from the movie by drawing, individually or in groups. Then experts lead discussions in which all participants could see the works of others and to hear their thoughts and views.
The sessions are filmed with one or more cameras, then the material is edited, and the final product is a documentary showing the process of applying the "cinema and psychoanalyses' method with children.
